  • Place the peeled and diced apples in a small saucepan.
  • Add water, cinnamon, and sugar, and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  • Cook the compote for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft.

Make the Porridge

  • Combine oats, milk, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt in another saucepan.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for about 5 minutes or until the porridge is creamy.
  • Stir in honey or maple syrup, if desired.

Serve

  • Divide the porridge into two bowls.
  • Top each bowl with the apple compote and garnish with nuts, seeds, or raisins as desired.
